Cafe Baristo - A New Little Coffee House
A person could open their eyes to what’s new in the world, and discover wonderful things in the process. I did that today. As I left a client’s office I saw the small yard signs. You know what I mean. It is like when your neighbor puts out three or four campaign signs for that politician she believes is the second coming. As if having three signs persuades me more than having just one and knowing her support for the candidate.
But these signs were different. Political season, well at least Election Day, is over and the candidates’ signs, winners and losers, are now gone. So, these caught my eye.
A person can see something without seeing it. But these were new and my eye caught the shape of an abstract coffee cup. How quickly can you turn the car into the driveway of the parking area? There was no large signage so I drove slowly until I saw the name on the front door, Café Baristo. My mind immediately tried to change the “o” to an “a.” But no, it said Café Baristo. I parked the car and walked inside.
It was about 3:40 in the afternoon and I had just discovered a new, local, and independent coffee house. A woman immediately greeted me at the front door and I stepped into a wonderful room. You may notice, as I did, the gas fireplace at the end of the room, as you stroll in. A sitting area of leather couches and chairs sat in front of the fire. A group of people, well wishers it turns out, talking to one of the owners, as I found out.
Several two-top and four-top tables were arranged in an orderly fashion around the room. At the back, facing the door was the counter with several menus up high on the wall. As I began pursuing the offerings a man asked if he could help me. Today I wanted a darker roast, but not espresso. Usually I enjoy a light roast but explaining this asked about his darker offering. So he offered me a tasted test. First he gave me an American roast. Very good, lighter body, rich flavor.
Then he informs me he is out of his French roast and will brew some. I’m wondering if you would have declined the offer, as did I, not wanting to put him out. But he insisted on brewing it, and I am glad he did. As I later found out their coffees come from Central and South America and this was a wonderful Costa Rican French Roast. It was richly flavored and full-bodied. Now this was why I stopped by.
This little independent shop also offers expected baked goods like muffins and light lunch fare. It is officially called Café Baristo in Pinnacle Hills at Corporate Park. You may have already guessed that it is tucked away in a corporate office park where several of my client’s are housed. Obviously, the owners are planning on drawing some lunch business in addition to the fine coffees that are offered.
You may have already guessed it. In the days and weeks ahead I plan on becoming a regular at Café Baristo.
Have the BEST cup ever!
