Coffee and Chocolate

Few things inspire the intense devotion and passion as does coffee.  However, one of those “things” that does is chocolate.  And few things are paired together as well as coffee and chocolate.  I drink a fair amount of green tea, but when it comes to enjoying chocolate it is my coffee that I reach for.

Like our beloved coffee, chocolate has taken a reputation hit as an unhealthy food.  The good news is that chocolate, like coffee, contains many healthy compounds.  As it turns out, it is the dairy and sugar added to chocolate that creates the unhealthy characteristics.

Understanding that, let’s explore some chocolate and coffee combinations that really tempt the taste buds.

Coffee Chocolates

No this is a perfect way to enjoy our favorite combination.  Espresso roasted coffee beans dipped in dark chocolate to make the perfect candy.  The bean gives the chocolate an enticing aroma and crunchy texture that truly complements the chocolate.  You can find this treat in dark chocolate and white chocolate variations.  When white chocolate is used it usually covers a bean that is latte roasted.  A light roast goes very well with the delicate flavor of white chocolate.

Nut Chocolates

Who hasn’t enjoyed nuts covered in a silky smooth chocolate?  Many of us grew up enjoying the chocolate-covered peanuts of M&Ms.  Well, now it’s time to grow-up and enjoy the adult version of that candy.  Almonds, macadamia nuts, hazel nuts, cashews, and now the chocolate bean itself, cacao nibs are all wonderfully done with a chocolate coating.  And of course, your favorite cup of coffee along side.

Tropical Fruit Chocolates

What an interesting combination this is, the sweetness of the fruit with the richness of chocolate.  Remember the first time you had fruit at a chocolate fondue pot?  Now you can experience true tropical delight with three wonderful taste treats that come to us from the tropics:  chocolate, tropical fruit, and coffee.  From guava, to passion fruit, to pineapple, these fruits are terrific alone.  But when paired with chocolate the taste experience is truly one to savor.

How would it feel if you were enjoying some chocolate treat with your coffee?  Well don’t hesitate, enjoy it today.

Have the BEST cup ever!

I had been avoiding both coffee and chocolate due to health reasons. Recently I have introduced them in my diet and love both equally. I am partial to nut chocolates and love the combination of a soft, chewy chocolate with crunchy nuts. I am yet to try fruit flavored chocolates and am not so keen on coffee chocolates. I agree with you that a cup of coffee can be enjoyed most with your favorite chocolate.

Coffee and chocolate go great together- especially chocolate covered coffee beans. I find it strange that few people like chocolate covered beans, but I find them to be divine! So if coffee has health benefits and dark chocolate is packed with healthy antioxidants, are dark chocolate covered coffee beans a super food? I’ll need to do some research on that.

I liked your combinations, though I’m a really big fan of the moka cappuccino coffee x.x I think that is the perfect breed between 2 fine steeds XD.. kudos for the nuts eitherway o_o I love m&m’s …

Wow, this seems to be a good combination to try about. Usually the part of the globe where I’m from, the coffee is taking just with milk and sugar and there is no chocolate factor involved :-) Well, that doesn’t stop from trying it now, now that we know something cool could be made. I do love the chocs but not the nut chocs or crunchy nut chocs! Will defintely try it out and let ya know.

I couldn’t agree more! I particularly love the espresso bean laden chocolate from Target. It’s part of their Choxy line. It’s the best dark chocolate I’ve ever had. It really scratches that chocolate/ coffee itch that I have sometimes. I suggest everyone try it!

Chocolate and coffee do make a great combination. Chocolate covered coffee beans are so delicious, as are any kind of nut covered with chocolate (especially almonds). Knowing that there are healthy compounds makes the combination even better.
