Speaking of Coffee
As you venture into the coffee world please be aware of common terms used in the coffee industry:
Acidity
While coffee is slightly acidic, this term does not measure the actual PH of the bean. Instead this makes reference to the sharp, but pleasing taste, which is neither sweet or sour.
Body
Body is the weight of the coffee on the tongue. Coffee’s aroma and richness of flavor also constitute body. To understand body, it may help to think of a lack of body, such as a thin, watery tasting coffee.
Harsh
A common characteristic of the less-desirable robusta coffees, this is unpleasant to the taste.
Winy
A taste derived from the fermenting of the coffee bean.
